Circulation pump replaced due to prolonged seal leak

The equipment began showing subtle signs — a small water leak near the motor and an unusual noise during operation. Symptoms that were overlooked for several weeks. By the time the problem became impossible to ignore, it was too late: the pump stopped starting. When switched on, it produced only an electrical hum, with no movement from the shaft.

What we found on site

  • Seal (mechanical seal) that had failed several months prior — the seal separating the hydraulic section from the electrical section had stopped functioning
  • Seized bearings — continuous water ingress had destroyed the internal lubricant and corroded the rotating parts
  • Dense crust of limescale and mineral deposits on the motor, base and fan cover — the result of pool water continuously evaporating onto the hot equipment
  • Motor showing signs of overheating and compromised winding, a direct consequence of the strain to overcome the seized bearings
