A technical, rigorous process designed to last.
Renovating a swimming pool is much more than replacing tiles or improving its appearance.
It is a demanding technical process where each stage directly affects durability, safety, and long-term peace of mind.
From our experience, everything starts with the foundation: understanding the real condition of the pool before beginning any visible work.
Very often, what determines the success of a renovation is not what you see at the end, but the technical work done beforehand.
Technical assessment and project planning
Before making any decisions, we always carry out a complete on-site technical assessment.
This step allows us to understand the real condition of the pool and define the most appropriate approach for each situation.
During this assessment, we analyse, among other aspects:
- possible leaks or water loss
- condition of the ceramic finish (tiles / ervinel)
- condition of existing grout
- skimmers, drains, inlets and technical penetrations
- visible pipework and access in the plant room
- overall structural condition and critical areas
- coping stone condition
The coping stone always deserves special attention, as it directly influences the final finish of the pool.
Together with the client, we evaluate whether the coping can be maintained — when it is in good condition — or whether it should be replaced, either for technical reasons or as part of a deeper aesthetic upgrade.
Making this decision early prevents surprises during the renovation and ensures consistency throughout the project.
Specialized hydraulic inspection (recommended)
In full renovations — and whenever the pool’s history justifies it — we recommend a specialized hydraulic inspection carried out by a technical partner using diving inspection and camera equipment.
This stage allows us to identify problems that are not visible at the surface, such as:
- hidden leaks
- internal pipe deterioration
- blockages or restrictions
Carrying out this inspection before the renovation begins avoids future interventions in already renovated areas and protects the long-term investment.
It is one of those steps you rarely see — but it makes all the difference.
Responsible water management
Whenever technical conditions and available space allow, we assess the possibility of storing the existing pool water in tanks, promoting a more sustainable approach.
When this is not possible, draining is carried out in a controlled and safe way.
Renovation execution
A technical process, step by step
With the project defined, the renovation is carried out methodically, in stages, and under controlled conditions, following the correct technical sequence.
We begin by fully draining the pool and preparing the work area.
Next comes the complete removal of the existing ceramic finish and, when applicable, the removal of the coping stone, always in a careful and controlled manner.
When the coping is maintained, it is properly protected throughout the works.
When replaced, the new coping is installed at the appropriate stage of the process, ensuring correct alignment, precise levels, and proper integration with the new interior finish.
After these initial steps, old adhesives and residues are removed to ensure a clean and technically correct base. The structure is then levelled and polished, and any cracks, fissures, or weakened areas are repaired.
Whenever necessary, we create or correct covings and rounded corners at transitions between floor, walls, edges, steps, and technical areas.
This is one of those details that almost no one notices after the renovation — but it is essential to:
- reduce structural stress points
- ensure continuous waterproofing
- increase finish durability
- make future maintenance easier
Based on the initial diagnosis — and, when applicable, the hydraulic inspection — we replace pipework, skimmers, drains, or other technical components when necessary.
After these corrections, we carry out a deep technical cleaning of the entire pool, preparing it for the next stage.
Waterproofing and finishing
The most critical stage of the renovation
With the structure properly prepared, we move on to waterproofing the pool.
We apply a professional technical system with three waterproofing layers, executed in stages and carefully controlled.
This system includes:
- three waterproofing coats
- fiberglass mesh reinforcement
- careful treatment of corners, wall penetrations, drains, skimmers and technical areas
The multi-layer application ensures continuous and durable waterproofing, significantly reducing the risk of infiltration.
After the required curing time, the new ceramic finish is installed, respecting alignment and high-quality finishing standards.
Grouting is carried out with epoxy, ensuring greater chemical resistance, lower porosity, and a superior final finish.
Completion of the renovation and pool recommissioning
After the required curing periods, we perform the final cleaning, refill the pool, and carry out the technical start-up.
A renovation designed for the long term
Each renovation is treated as a unique project.
Our focus is not only the visual result — it is ensuring that all technical elements, visible and invisible, are executed with precision.
A well-executed renovation is not only visible on the first day — it becomes evident years later.
A pool renovated with method and technical criteria results in:
- greater durability
- lower risk of future problems
- improved structural and hydraulic performance
- greater peace of mind for the owner
